Rebuild the Earth: Stop Deforestation

Rebuild the Earth: Stop Deforestation Did you know that one and a half acres of forest is cut down every second? That rate is equivalent to a loss of 20 football fields every minute. This is the sad reality of the world we live in today, where we are physically exterminating the environment around us, and either voluntarily choosing to ignore the consequences or sometimes genuinely unaware of each of our actions repercussions. In an attempt to stop our rainforests from being destroyed in the next century, I have founded Rebuild the Earth to create a responsible forest product industry and rebuild the areas that have fallen victim to deforestation. Ending deforestation not only is our best chance to conserve wildlife and forest communities, but is also one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways to curb globalization. Rebuild the Earth is different from other environmental protection organizations because it focuses on three pillars: awareness, community support, and refores...

A World We Dare to Imagine

A World We Dare to Imagine Honestly, when I think about areas that we need to improve in as a society, I get slightly overwhelmed. Immediately, my mind directs to the senseless acts of violence constantly making headlines in the media, our inability to see others as inherently equal, and our lack of care for the environment around us. Personally, I understand that when our country was founded it made sense for people to be allowed to carry weapons for protection. However, that was before the invention of the automatic rifle, when guns took several minutes to reload. Time...

Person Of Interest: Random Blog Post 2

Even though I know I have no extra time and can barely finish my schoolwork as it is, I decided to start a new show on Netflix this weekend called Person Of Interest. This show isn’t necessarily new, as it is currently on season 4, but I just discovered it and I’ve already watched more episodes than I’d like to admit. Person Of Interest is about a computer genius, Finch, and a former CIA agent, John, who work together to stop crimes through the creation of their Artificial Intelligence system, which uses all cameras and microphones in the country to watch citizens and detect acts of crime before they happen. Personally, I love shows filled with action and suspense, which is why I’ve already finished all seasons of Criminal Minds and Law & Order. However, immediately I realized this show was different because it incorporates the real-life problem of privacy security today. I have never been a person thats paranoid of being watched by the government because it’s not something th...
